About the Photographer

picture of MichelleI have been taking pictures for over 30 years. My formal training began at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where I was studying Journalism. I was living there for a year before I planned to return to Nevada. At the University of Nevada there was the most feared photojournalism instructor, Professor Metz. All of his classes were incredibly hard. I decided to take two classes in photography (Basic Photography and Photojournalism) in Utah rather than take one photojournalism class from Professor Metz.

I really enjoyed my photography classes and my professors in Utah, and the moutains were spectacular to photograph. My photojournalism instructor at the University of Utah, Professor Anderson, taught me that any object, no matter how mundane, can look good in a picture depending upon the angle, time of day and context of the photo.

My belief is that photography is therapy. It gives us time to slow down, to see things we might not notice in our usual rush to get from one place to the next, and to look for beauty.
